The developers were amazed by the results of operation of electric buses
Commencement of operation of the first double-Decker electric buses gave unexpected results.
In the UK conducted a first stage, double-Decker electric buses, which was being tested on public roads. Five electric models double-Decker double-Decker bus produced by BYD. As the experiment showed, contrary to expectations, the electric buses can drive on one charge of the batteries is almost 290 km, not 200 as planned. Thus, the electric buses can run on the route, carrying out flights for a full day without needing to stop to recharge.
In the transport organization of London believe that electric buses will help reduce emissions of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and improve air quality in the city. It should be noted, a standard one-story electric buses run on some routes of public transport in London since July last year. And by 2020 in the Central part of the city plan to use one-storey buses exclusively on electricity.
Interestingly, a fairly common myth that double-Decker buses prone to rollover, is not true – most of these machines are equipped with a special system against rollover (usually the ballast of pig iron, mounted on the chassis for a low center of gravity).
